Potential explanations for the alarmingly high fish smell:24-hour period ratio:
1) Economic Recession = Need for additional income = one of my neighbors has started a seafood culinary seminar...in their apartment!
2) Economic recession (for $500)= Need for additional disposable income = one of my neighbors participated in Jeopardy and won a year's supply of cod!
3) Economic recession = Need for spiritual balance = participation in nightly Wiccan rituals involving the sacrifice of the ancient Pacific barrel eye fish
One day I'll find the answer! I just hope whatever the explanation, that the fish in question is sustainable!

An eternal flame?
Some memories evoke big questions, like this one from 7 years ago.
1) Why did Amanda's family have so many of those lighters? (And scissors, but that's for another post)
2) Why were we so intrigued?
2.5) Where are Annie and Brian's teeth hiding in picture #2?
3) Why didn't we use this time to make an actual campfire somewhere and roast marshmallows that way?
4) What is the origin of the marshmallow?

Tilapia on Tap
As an ironic follow-up to my fish frenzy posting*, here is a
delicious meal my friend Adam and I threw together last Friday.
Grilled Tilapia with leeks and garlic-sauteed swiss chard.
We enjoyed an assortment of brown ales to compliment the tasty dish.
My personal favorite so far: Troegs Rugged Trail Nut Brown Ale.
I'll use this opportunity to encourage all of you beautiful folks out there to consider choosing beers that are on tap from your local establishments--to cut back on bottles!!
*I'd like to note the fish was prepared at Adam's and not in my building.

eat them up, yum!!
Four out of maybe the last seven nights (that's a lot), I've come home to a building reeking of fish. Now don't get me wrong, fish are delish, but this smell is appalling not appealing.
Maybe it's those.
Or maybe it's the smell of Dean and Kyle tirelessly training goldfish in Gibsonia that has wafted down to Green Street.
Who knows?
Maybe Comet, the 'world's smartest fish' has some answers.

nutella on rainbow
sick days make me seriously miss my mom.
she used to bring home really strange movies from Davis library like "a troll in central park" or
"the peanut butter solution"
and she would make nutella sandwiches on rainbow bread.
but she did that even when I wasn't sick

animal collective
This weekend was full of animals, and I didn't even go to the zoo!
It all started with Huey, my friend's pug.
After Hangin' with Huey, my friend Laila and I saw this awesome exhibit at the Fabric Workshop and Museum which featured this guy:
Then on Saturday, my friend John and I went to Paleo-Palooza, where they held trilobite races.
I found the animal scenes a bit more lively than the fossils!

polygamy with charlie and babe
You boys don't look a day over 25!
Just kidding!
Happy 200th birthday, dudes.
PS, my friend Michael Cozy adorned my tank top with Abe's portrait on Sunday
atop his roof in Brooklyn
using spray paint and stencils.
He is a man of many artistic talents.
It was a magical time.
Thanks, Cozy.

Who is Richard Hirschler? Part 1
This is
my dad.
He was born
in October, 1941
in Budapest.
His mother met my grandfather,
a famous gynecologist and also a communist who came from an Orthodox Jewish family.
It's no surprise that while some people were reading "Nanny Diaries" or the latest Malcolm Gladwell book on the beach last weekend, my father's was busy with:
Oh, dad! I love you.
